Information about accommodation

We from the Organizing committee have identified a number of budget hotels, apartments close to the University Campus at the Leysweg in Paramaribo. See next page: table with names of apartments and rates.

The University Campus is situated in the South-Western part of Paramaribo, close to the Hermitage Mall (Lalla Rookhweg). The campus is about four kilometres from the heart of Paramaribo. In and close to the inner city f Paramaribo, one can find the luxury hotels like Torarica, Royal Torarica, Krasnapolsky, Courtyard , Eco resort (a subsidiary to Torarica), Residence, Elegance Hotel.   All the large Hotels provide free shuttle to and from the airport, but they are more expensive. They are located close to or in the touristic centre of Paramaribo.

Those who are looking for a budget accommodation and are advised to choose one of the hotels or apartments we have identifies in the neighbourhood of the University. All of them have free wifi.

The apartments have a kitchen and cooking facilities. Hey provide no breakfast. All of them are very close to supermarkets or restaurants.

Those who want to see Paramaribo or wants to get an idea of the hospitality of the peaceful multi-ethnic society of Suriname, are advised to extend their stay. You have also a golden opportunity undertake an Eco touristic tour to the interior of Suriname.  See different links of touristic organizations or tour operators.

Advise:

Please ask the agency or hotel manager which taxes are included in the room rate. In most cases 8% VAT is not included in the price. In the apartments the guest should bring his own towels.  Check the rules of the apartment before you make your booking. This is to avoid disappointment.
